I just got a tiger Oscar and it seems that whenever I turn on the aquarium light it hides in the plants and doesn't move. Do Oscars don't like brightlights or what?

Some do, some don't. Mine doesn't care about plants. In fact, he pulls them up and then plays with them until I plant them again.

You might also try a ping pong ball or two...they love to play.

Mine doesn't like bright light either and does the same as yours but other than that he seems very happy. So I don't keep any lights on his tank.

J0seph123 - have you tried turning the face of the light strip slowly towards the water?

my two oscars HATE the bright light, so i put white t-shirts in between the light and the tank to dim the light. Belive it it or not i works and they seem to be fine. You cant even see the shirts!
