Toys, and tankmates..getting oscars!

I am getting a new 75 gallon tank...I was think I would get two oscars, two jack dempsey (maybe one jd and one parrot fish?), my (aggressive) pictus, and a bristlenose catfish. Please let me know if you thinking I am over stocking this is what I was told my the store would be good. Another fish I like is parrot fish, so I am up for suggests on the number and types of fish.

Also the only fish I have is the pictus, the rest I was liking I would get babies.

I was thinking pebble gravel, two large hides, a few fake plants with the weighted bottoms that they can move around, maybe a med kong (the dog chew toy) or two small ones they can move too.

What other toys (pong ping balls of course) would be good?

I am also getting two: two head bio wheel filters...so the tank should be about to handle the fish, (with water changes).

Also a side question: The tank is with wood stand, filters and lights for $500, is that a good deal?

Thanks!

It would overstock the 75g in my opinion. The aggression level would be outrageously bad, more than likely resulting in the death of most of the fish. If you got baby oscars, jds, and parrots the pictus would pick them off as they "slept" at night, if it is large enough.

I would leave the numbers to 2 oscars, 2-4 bristlenose plecostomus (they stay under 8 inches), and the pictus.

The oscars will pick on the bristlenose if they are small enough, so you may want to get the biggest bristlenose(s) you can find rather than going with babies of them, unless you were to put baby BN in 6 months or so before the oscars.

It is so refreshing to see someone do their research BEFORE buying the fish! Thank you!

Thanks Cw I am trying, everyone/site seems to have their own opinion and I am trying to get the bigger picture of truth if you know what I am saying.

What about 2 oscars, and 1 electric blue jack dempsey (I read they are less aggersive) and 1 bristlenose (or 2 if they should be in groups) added?

I was thinking about dividing the tank, pictus on one side till the other fish are bigger....Then if the oscar and eb-jd babies out grow the bristlenose I can put the bristlenose were the pictus is and the pictus with the oscars and ed-jd?

Thanks!
