Docile?

We have a few baby oscars... two tiger oscars, one about 1 1/2" and one about 3" and an albino about 1 1/2".

Anyway, the albino has been pretty active so far but the two tigers are both pretty docile. They swim around a good bit but hang out at the bottom of the tank pretty often. Either just seeming to sit at the bottom or kind of leaning against the rock caves.

Are they ill? Is this normal behavior for them in a new tank? They're from different LFS in the area but both are exhibiting very similar behavior. Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks!!

How long have you had them, and what size tank is it? Have the tested the water, and if so, what the results?

Was the tank properly cycled?

Just to let you know, those Oscars will need about 150 gallon tank when they grow. If you already have that planned out, just ignore this.

We've anticipated adulthood. There is a 200 gallon not yet setup that will be their "big fish" tank. Water was cycled, tested it several times over the passed few days with the API master test kit and all levels as they should be.

We just got them 2 days ago so I'm hoping maybe they're still adjusting. I just wasn't sure if this was in any way normal behavior. They're moving around more now... still not as much as our other fish, but looking better.

Two possibilities I would suggest:

1) They are simply adjusting to a new environment and are stressed.
2) The place you got them used, or received them from a place that uses tranquilizer and they are recovering.

With either situation they should be fine in a few days.

Are they eating anything?
