Oscar has hurt himself

My red tiger has hurt his bottom jaw,I put food in for him and being the active boy he is he slammed himself headfirst into the filter while going for the food, his jaw is lopsided or pushed to one side,I'm not sure what to do for him.He is swimming around normally,I'm not sure if he can open his jaw wide enough to eat,and ...ohhh he would be in pain,he's not showing it but he would be...I don't know what to do...I love this guy....................

Re: Oscar has hurt himself

Oscars are really tough. I wouldn't worry about it. you might want to get some sort of antibiotic, just in case. But for the most part, get used to it. Oscars are bruisers, and can bang themselves up pretty good now and again. I was just answering another post about how mine would push around rocks as big as he was. He could tear his mouth up good doing this, but there's no way to stop him... so like I said, you'll just have to get used to it.

Re: Oscar has hurt himself

Thanks Jim,
He's certainly changed sinced I first brang him home, seems to be getting rougher as he grows.Thats interesting you say about rocks being moved by your oscar as a large piece of driftwood was being moved about in this guys tank, had us baffled for awhile but figured he must be moving it.

One of my oscars got his butt kicked and now his jaw is crooked. He seems to be doing just fine. Just make sure yours is eating okay, and let us know if he isn't.
