| Stingray tank So I am planning on buying a freshwater stingray. I have a 90 gallon grow out tank and a 180 gallon show tank for it. Do needlefish do OK with stingrays? I really like needlefish. Will the stingray eat the needlefish? Stingray is my top priority. They will also have some angelfish tank-mates, a geophagus, a Senegal bichir, and 3 large clown loaches (I got the idea at http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...gray+tankmates ) Thought this would be a cool setup. |

| The need HUGE shallow tanks. I have a friend who breeds them in a 400 gal. custom made tank. It's only like a foot deep. |

I'm pretty sure the Amazon is deeper but we've got other small streams that connect around the house, and in the garden so our native vegetables and other herbs never die because they are adapted
I digress too much, but you really should get the stingrays! Reticulated ones are beautiful, so you can try and get those |

I love the enthusiasm! The reticulated does sound like it would fit the larger grow out tank. Ahhh, but sometimes moms just get set in their ways. Good luck with that Fishfreak! |

| I have a friend who kept them in his shop but wouldn't keep other fish with them because other fish would out compete them for food.

| Just bought a baby retic male! So happy, it's an early Christmas present. It eats like a pig and its current tankmates include 3 clown loaches and 6 angelfish. |

| Even retics get HUGE...usually larger than a foot in diameter.
They really should be in specialized tanks, species only IMO. |

| It is only temporarily in the 90 gallon as a growout. Then it will go in a 180 gallon, and if that is too small, by the time it gets full sized I will be moved out and will buy a tank in the 300 gallon range. Just asking by the way, have you ever kept a ray before. I have researched this purchase for 2 years, and all eventual tankmates are compatible, plus I use a turkey baster and tongs to make sure he gets his food. He is so greedy he is the first to the surface when I open the lid on the tank. Last edited by fishfreak2009; December 12th, 2009 at 04:46 PM.
