| | Fish Helper | Any idea for oddball 55-75g? I want a predator or atleast something out of the ordinary (of course) but my requirements are:
-active
-bigger than 7inch (unless its an awesome gulper cat <3)
-Predator prefered but will abset omnivores or herbivores
-Just a species tank only (meaning Iam only going to have one fish)
Here are my likes (you can make other suggestions outside my likes I just want to find the best suited fish for my style)
-I like smooth skinned fish (unless its a round bodied fish<3)
-I like round boddied fish with girth to it
-Fish with larger mouths
-Smart enough to recognize whose the feeder (me) and beg for food
-Pretty active
-Doesnt mind bright lights that much(of course vegetation on top will difuse the light)
-Larger than 5inch
-freshwater is a must
Pretty much anything amuses me but that amuses me the most I like gulper cats but their extremely expensive a whopping 500$ so I am trying to look fo rfish under 100$
This will be set for either a 55g or a 75g Id like to know all the fish that can go in that <3 |

| | Fish Bum | my LFS has a sweet freshwater stingray...don't know much about it but it seems active and may be a good option. Next time I go there I'll try to get the species name for you. I've admired it but it was definitely too big for my 29 gallon. It's very active though. |

They needs LARGE shallow tanks. |

| | Fish Master | Lungfish are illegal in some areas, so you may want to look into that.
Gars get HUGE. Google search "Alligator Gar".
Rope fish would be fine, they are top-notch escape artists though. Bichirs should be okay, very territorial though. Arowana need 400 gal. minimum. Flounder would be okay, not active though.
PinkFloydPuffer is the pro on puffers, you could have 2 Figure 8 puffers, 2 Green Spotted Puffers. But be aware that these are BRACKISH water fish, and GSP go full MARINE as adults. |

| | Fish Master | Scratch Lungfish. They reach 4' in length. That's the entire of a length of a 55 or 75. They need a 6' (125 gal.) tank. |

In all honesty I love all fish but some I love more than others. Btw what is the tank size you suggest I get? And if I do get it what type? Long? Tall? Or breeder? |

I like bichirs and ropefish but dont know if they would hand feed like an eel would. Or if theyd recognize their feeder. And I know alligator gar get huge. I like the "needlenose gar" which is the smallest of all gars. Or is it an imitation? and just a needlefish. Idk I forget. Funny thing is Iam in college x_x I came from registrations so Iam defenitely getting a bigger tank. And if not ._. Ill stick with either ropefish, or somekind of catfish, or a bichir, or the jack dempsey you suggested. I love predatory fish the most. But not the really lazy ones. |

| | Fish Master | For a lungfish, a 125 gal. would be minimum. Standard tank.
Also, lungfish are escape artists, anad can live out of water, so keep that in mind. You still need to research if they are legal near you. They are considered an invasive species in the South. Lungfish are not active, many of the large predators aren't. |

| | Fish Master | I believe I explained the reasoning before,
they can SURVIVE in a 55 gal., they will NOT THRIVE.
Oscars reach over 12" in length full grown, the width of a 55 gal. is ONLY 12 ". Obviously the Oscar will not be comfortable. It will, in fact, stunt the growth of the Oscar - which is painful & shortens the life of the fish. |
