Black knife fish+ Cichlids?

hi everyone, I am new here and need some advice....
I currently have 2 jack dempsey cichlids about 1 1/2" in length, and 2 convict cichlids about the same size. Is there anyway I could add a blackghost knife fish into the tank as long as it has plenty of places to hid out?? I only have a 29 gal now but once the fish start getting bigger I plan on getting a rather large tank. I have gotten those fish several weeks ago and was planning on just doing cichlids but the other day i went to the pet store and saw a black ghost and feel totally in love with them and would really like to have one.
Thanks

i'd say probably not, especially if your convicts or JDs start spawning. convicts are MEAN and would probably tear the poor thing up

If the JD's and Convicts are the same size you could have problems anyway. The Convicts will probably attack the Jd's in such a small tank. I would advise upsizing ASAP.

Not to mention that ghost knives aren't good to be kept in a 29 gallon.. Minimum is 40 gallons or 55 gallons probably. Plus JD's and Convict cichlids are very aggressive.

Well, the JD's need 75 gal. to themselves, and the Cons are MEAN!
The knife really has no way to defend itself, and also needs a 55 gal. minimum.

I agree with Amanda. Upgrade for the fish you have... a black ghost knife would probably get outcompeted for food even in a larger tank.

don't do it. the cichlids will destroy the ghost knife if he is small enough. not to mention black ghost knifes are almost blind and are very challenging to feed. he will never get his share of food in a tank full of rambunctious cichlids and will either be killed by the cichlids are will die of starvation. not to mention they get almost 20 inches...

I'm guessing that they made a decision within the past month folks... lol

But, I do agree... No, bad idea to add (and possibly to maintain the current stocking) in that tank. IMO

i had a black ghost with 3 convicts and he was always getting beat up. i took a vacation to cancun and had someone sit my tank and when i came back there was no trace of him. the sitter didnt even notice he was gone and i never found any bones or anything. therfore i would not advise it especially cus i had 3 small convicts in a 55 gallon. the black knives are very cool fish though
