Black Ghost Knife Tube

My bgk seems to be comfortable in the tank, He sort of hides in the space between my filter and the back of the tank and comes out at night. that's guessing this is because of the whole sonar/electric waves thing they have and he feels like he's in an enclosed space. I tossed in two pieces of clear tubing, 2 different sizes because it's really a drag not being able to see such a gorgeous fish during the day. While he checked them both out once, he went in, left and never returned he now continues to stay in that corner between the glass and the filter. what can i do to get him comfortable with the tubes. they have been in there for about 2 or 3 days now

Hi Fullofit343,

They are nocturnal. Your clear tubing doesn't protect it from the light.

Why not put in a opaque plastic tube and drill a few holes in it. That way you can still see it somewhat.

Otherwise get a moonlight. Turn the moonlight light on and turn of the main aquarium lights. It will come out and swim around.

Mine comes out for food even with the main aquarium lights on but disappears to his cave when he is done eating. When we turn off the aquarium lights and leave the moon light on, he comes out and swim around.

BGK, when young prefer to hide in tight fitting narrow spaces along the edges of the tank. Try getting tighter fitting tubes and move them to the edges. Also try putting his food in the tubes, dimming the lights and creating permanent overhead shadowing with floating plants.
