Is my dragon sick?

I came home tonight and my dragon goby is acting strange. He's swimming all over the tank and sticking his head all the way out of the water. Mind you, I've only had him less than a week, and I usually see him during the day when he just lays on the bottom. Tonight I came home to a dark house, so maybe this is how they normally are. I've heard they're more active at night. I'm not sure, it just seems very strange to me that a fish would stick his head all the way out of the water like that. He's not gulping air though.

Um... did you take water readings? If so, what are they, and if not, it would be helpful if you did.
I like your username, by the way

I hope he will be ok. My one betta did that and died. Don't know what caused it though.

Hopefully your dragon goby was just having fun.
Good luck!

Unfortunately I work today and my LFS is only open while I'm at work, so I won't be able to get any readings until Monday (I'm out of supplies). Good news is, he's not doing it this morning. Maybe it is just something they do when the lights are out. (crossing fingers)

I have heard they are escape artists. Do you think he was looking for a way out?
Here are some pics of one sanding up

I have also heard they could be in fresh or brackish water but preferred brackish. I don't have any experience with them so was just wondering. I really like how they look though

I know nothing about this fish but my first guess would be parasites (internal)

You do know that Dagon goby's are Brickishwater fish. There maybe something wrong with the water I would by a Reef Master API testing kit there about $30 it has all the test you would need to keep the salt level at the right level for him. Also use Ocean Salt not freshwaterfish salt.

My baby dragon goby did that a week or 2 ago when I was cleaning out the tank. He, too, was sticking his head out of the water and swimming all over the place. I dont know what was wrong with him. Hes been fine ever since.

Also, dragon gobys are technically brackish water fish but they will adapt to freshwater and do just fine. I've had my adult goby for about a year now in freshwater. He is very happy and has grown to be 11 inches long!
