Raising Mystery Snails

I've got baby mystery snails that are growing fast, but still very tiny. I'm wondering how long it takes to reach adult size? Also, is there anything special I should be doing for them? Right now they are in a ~78F 10 gallon with the parents and several guppies and tetras.

You should start killing them immediately, population control is a priority. They will multiply faster than anything you've seen and they are a huge bio-load. Within weeks they will overrun your tank and it can be very difficult to get rid of them. Common methods are hanging some lettuce in the tank overnight and tossing them out with it in the morning or simply squishing them and feeding the guts to your fishies.

Good luck

David I have to respectfully disagree with you since I love mystery snails. When mine laid eggs the angels ate the babies about as fast as they hatched. I have green, Yellow and striped Mystery snails. They are spread among all my tanks and they do a good job cleaning up the algae but haven't touched my plants.
Dojella - you can put sliced zucchinni, cucumbers, veggie wafers. Basically anything that is vegetable based. Since their confined to a 10g they aren't likely to over populate and spread if they were so inclined. Mine haven't laid eggs again. I wish they would. Your LFS may take them for store credit.

Thanks Butterfly and David. I appreciate your input. I wouldn't be able to kill them, so I have given many away and I plan to keep the rest and distribute them to my other tanks once they grow a bit more. I've got one more clutch that is due to hatch any day and once it does I plan to raise the water level so that no more clutches are laid.

I wouldn't guarantee that that would keep them from laying clutches. I had a Cana that was ina rubbermaid container with my turtles and she laid her clutch over the top and side of the tank.
