How to eel-proof? What spiney eel to get?

I final decided what I want to house in my new 75 gallon with my baby oscar (about 2-3 inchs) and adult pictus (who is now a calm hider in the bigger tank)...I was thinking (at least 6 inchs?) tire-track eel because this is the one I have read should get along with an oscar and this way they can grow together? But I think a little smaller one would be better with my tank size.

I keep reading about them and seeing "eel-proofing" because no one ever explains how to do it...I have 2 pengiun bio wheel filters..So there is two tubes that go to the bottom of the tank but the slits to get into it are way to small for an eel. And then there is four opening that the filter water goes back into the tank form. The two doors for feeding and cleaning the tank are not weighted either, should they be??

Is there anything I should do to eel-proof or should it not be a problem??

Thanks so much!

Cover any opening, such as the back where the filter is, with a sheet of aluminum foil such that all holes to the outside are cut off.

Make sure it is tucked down tight.

I am not sure that small an oscar and an adult pictus are going to work.

How big is the pictus?

They are getting along great for now, its been about a week....They are both scared of each other and never even get near each other. The pictus is an adult 5inchs. And my baby O is almost 3inch about.

Do you think a peacok eel would be ok in the tank??

There is no hole in the back of the filter, it came with a plastic peice so (just the cord comes out) there is no whole big enough to get outside the tank.....

How strong are they? I was thinking they can push the lid open, or the filter top door, or push the plastic peice out behind the filter?

I have a peacock eel, and he is very timid, I dont think he would be able to hold his own if he were in my Oscar tank. I think the enviornment would be very stressful and he would contantly be in hiding or on the run.

My eel, also is an amazing escape artist. I find him occasionally IN the filter. I have a Penquin 350 Biowheel, and every now and then he worms his way past the wheel and into the filter chamber!! Eels can can be very tricky.
