A hammerhead look-a-like?

Yes, it is what it says. When I was a kid I had or thought we had a hammerhead shark. The thing that gets me is I can only find SW hammerheads. I am 99% we had this in our tank and just wondering if anybody knows anything about them?

Did they look anything like these? If so STAY AWAY. Trust me they get enormous. They're called Iridescent Sharks. Really Pangacious (questionable spelling) catfish. There are also Columbian Sharks which are often sold as freshwater sharks. I'd have to dig up a pic of one but they have a tall black dorsal fin and a white belly. Those are the only two freshwater "sharks" I know of that look like real sharks and both are no good for the home.

I can't argue the "no good for the home" but from what I remember it looked just like a hammerhead except it was palm sized. We didn't have to worry about them getting to big as one of the other "sharks" ate or attempted to eat the others and then died. I wish I had pictures.

Is your shark swimming upside down? lol

LOL no they have a long fin across the bottom. When it's flared up the top fin looks more shark like. Columbians look even more shark like. There's a profile on the FishLore main page for them. Maybe the picture there will look familiar.
