Big Tank Again, I'm Back in Business

Hey guys, NEW Tank here! i have bought a new tank today! it's 6'x1.5'x1.5', how much is that in US Gallons (125 G may be!)? i would keep an oscar in it, i have been doing a lot of research on Oscars, i like my friend tony's oscar so much, that's why i want to keep one myself!

Hi!

Trry this site's aquarium calculator. It's really helpful on calculating tank size.

According to the calculator it would be about 100g.

BIG TANK now the fun begins....That calculator is found under "articles" at the top of the page. Every time the forum has a face lift, we loose where things are, but that is so helpful, I use it all the time.

Do you have your new tank up and cycling?

i had bigger tanks before but this is the biggest i've ever bought, will start cycling it soon, didn't buy the gravels yet. i would also like to upgrade my 10g goldie tank, may be a 2.5'x1.5'x1.5' tank? will that be ok for 2 orandas?

1 Adult Gold Fish = 10 gal each

But with frequent water changes it should be ok IMO.

actually i'm not sure whether i will upgrade my tank or sell it, it would be really difficult for me to maintain 2 tanks!

Hi!

If your going to sell any tanks - it's that 10gal! Surely you prefer A large Tropical tank than one with a few Goldfish?

Hi!

I'd go for a Gold Nugget pleco instead on a Common. They look better - and don't grow as big. You'll need a hefty amount of filteration in there, though!

I've just introduced 6 Sterbai corys to my 47 gal... Yay!

Why the oscar I mean they are pretty interesting but there's so much more you could do with such a large tank. I do understand that they're easier to care for than a bunch of fish so if time's the issue then ignore this post, if not check what hatchet planned out(he knows what hes doing, he helped me plan mine out).

well, time is not the main issue, i am busy now however, can't give much time on tank maintenece but that's not the reason i'm getting an oscar, i'm watching my friend Tony's oscar for few months and it is very interesting! this fish has got personality like no other and they almost act like a puppy, no wonder why they r called River Dog!

They do have personalities and there is a video on youtube where a guy taught his to feed itself by teaching it to pull a string in which a pellet falls into the tank. I guess you'll be very happy with such a pet maybe two or three with that tank! heres that video link enjoy.
