Good Luck with Neons

Hey just wanted to get on here and let everybody know there is hope with neon tetras! I know when you're reading online there is a lot of bad luck with neons out there. This almost made me scared to try neons but i'm glad i did give them a try. I have a small school of 5 neon tetras and they are doing great. I've had them for almost 2 months now and haven't had any problems. I got them from my local petsmart which has good quality fish. I've had no deaths with fish from them. When I bought my neons I acclimated them for a about an hour with one of those plastic holders that fish stores use. I just added a little bit of water to it every 10 mins and they acclimated well. I feel this is better than the bag method. I know there are a lot of factors in the survival of new fish, but if you're thinking about neons give them a try you might be lucky.

Great news from you! I've had good luck with neons as well! mine have been around for about 3 months.

Maybe it just depends on the area and whether they've been overbred?

Neons are beautiful fish. I'm glad yours are doing well.
I had always heard the same about cardinals. Even the store had a sign saying they were sensitive and no refunds would be given.
I've had mine since May and they're doing great.

Yea, I had a bunch of cardinals that had no probs at all. Until I moved them into a new tank. It was fully cycled, checked, the usual, but killed every fish except 1 that I put into it, coz I got it moved sharpish...
Got money back for the tank, but lost so many fish. No-one had an explanation.
But not to worry, got a new, bigger tank and so far doing well. My new neons are loving the tank they are in at the moment, but are being moved to the big tank soon once fully cycled and I'm sure they will love it there too (they will have bubbles in there too, oooohh!!!)
