why did they die?

nearly 2 months ago i bought 7 neon tetras. within 3 days i only had 4 of them. a week or 2 later i bought another 8 of them from the same place. in less than a week every single neon tetra was gone. 12 neons gone.

my question is how did they die?
could it be new tank syndrome?
could it be the petshops supply of neons were sick?
could it be my 10 cm (4 inch) goldfish ate them?
could it have been my 3.4 inch angelfish who ate them,
or my betta had something to do with this?

i know none of you could find the real answer, but are these solutions possible?

oh and the same thing happened when i bought five 1 cm rosy barbs, twice.

thanks

I'm really sorry about your fish That really stinks.

1) Sorry, don't know for sure.
2) New tank syndrome refers to a cycling tank. Was the tank cycled?
3) Possibly. Neons aren't as hardy as they once were.
4) Possibly
5) That's a very good possibility. he really should be in at least 5g's by himself.

Good luck,I hope you figure out what went wrong.

Neons are notoriously difficult to establish in tank these days. I have LOADS of fish, all in good health, and hardly ever lose any except for old age. However when it comes to Neons, it took me 24 to get my group of six that I have now. All the rest died.

i'm sorry to hear that neons are very pretty fish but unfortunately they're very sensitive, i'd say that it's most likely that they died because they're just not very hardy
