Couldn't resist sharing this!

I have 6 neons in my tank, and they're always cool to watch. This afternoon though, I got quite a shock lol.

I went to take some photos of one of the new additions for a different thread here and happened to notice that two of my Neons looked just HUGE! I got all excited thinking that they may be carrying eggs followed immediately by a thought of "Ack, where do I put another tank for them to spawn in??"

After observing them for a couple more minutes, I realized what the issue was. They're not in spawning condition at ALL! They'd just been on a major pigfest of frozen bloodworm that I'd fed them not 10 minutes before LOL. I feel kinda daft for not even remembering that I'd fed them, but just seeing the two of them as big as they were, and my mind immediately jumped to having babies lol.

Anyway, I took a photo of them, and it's kind of funny. There's one of the huge ones pigging out, and another Neon in the background, with it's mouth open, as if it's in shock over how big his buddy suddenly got hehe.

I will eventually get through a day without having a blonde moment, I just know it!

I don't know if it's dangerous to 'let' them, but once the food is in the tank, there's not a whole lot I can do to stop them. Mind you, there's a fair few fish in the tank to help them eat it.

As long as they don't do this every day and have a little greenery(algae, veggie flakes, veggie wafers etc) in their diet it shouldn't hurt them.
They are pretty funny LOL

Hey! you never know. Good way to condition them before spawning. Select full moon night in separate tank (breeding tank and must be well established),w/ few feathery plants and large marbles as substrate, perform 50 - 75 % changes with well aged but 3-4 deg cooler water. check next morning for eggs. If spawned, remove the parents.
Like I said, if you feed them like that, it maybe anyday now. lol. Have methylene Blue handy when you are breeding and artificially hatching them.

Haha, that reminds me of when I fed mine yesterday. My mum looked in my tank and said, "Wow! Your Neon is pretty fat" So I look over, and I'm just like "Well, atleast I know Sparta is in a sharing mood today...." lol.
