| What fish look good with neon tetras? Hello
I'm trying to set up a planted tank with a school of neon tetras. I also want a couple of other community fish to go with, but I'm not sure which fish would go perfect with the neons. My platys don't look good with the neons, as they seem a bit more fun and comical-looking as opposed to the neons' peaceful and gentle feel. Angelfish seems good but they can eat the neon tetras. What other fish would you recommend? I also have a honey gourami with the neons and I'm planning to give my platy and molly to my cousin. What fish looks good with the neons(to establish some sort of theme)?
Thanks in advance! |

| Well, i have neons and cardinals, they are great together but you cant tell the difference >.<
Most other types of tetras would do excellent with your neons, like glow lights, or black neons, maybe even some bleeding hearts. All tetras for the most part look magnificent in a good planted tank, if your trying to set one up i would reccomend getting some nice natural looking substrate, lots of plants, and a nice chunk of driftwood, in my opinion those are the best looking tanks. |

| I have dwarf gouramis which do really well with the neons and cardinals, very peaceful and too small to munch on the littler fish. Other types of neons are great too, get several to show them off. I now have a shoal of white clouds (poor man's neons) which frequent the surface of the tank and flicker about. I've had harlequins recommended. My bottom feeders are cory cats and two funny dojos. |

| Lyndatu,
Schooling fish would look great in a tank of neons. I have a soft spot for the schooling species, I really enjoy how they stick together, and their personalities! I would put a dark substrate in your tank, so the neons will look their best. In general, fish that are colourful look great with darker surroundings, because of the contrast of colours!

| I would go with a species tank of just neons. They have such a presence about them just one big school is what I would go with. |

Thanks in advance! | I think Black Neons(not a Neon, about Cardinal size) would make a nice contrast and fit
in well. |
