I bought two neon tets today and when I went to shut off thelight on the tank, both were dead. No other fish is sick and they didn't have much stress. What happened?

I have seen Neons and Cardinals do that when I catch them in a net. I heard it is acting on their part caused by a shock/high stress. When released into back into water, they become alive again. Are you sure they are dead? Hope you didn't throw 'em into trash

Unfortunately, CWC is probably right, and the fish were weak from living in bad conditions at the pet store, and then couldn't survive the switch from the nearly toxic water at the store to the relatively clean water in your aquarium.
How long did you acclimate them? Did you just float the bag, or did you slowly change the water to adjust them to their new home?

That sucks. I dont know what happend. Did you keep them in the bag for 30 min. That really sucks.

they may have been stress out from moving. they also are a scooling fish so buying 2 they may have seperated and gotten nipped by other fish
