So looks like my big breeding station will be on hold for a while since my wife just finished her Military service at the beginning of the month and then she couldn't start school because she got sick and 2 of the kids got sick also, so I had to take time off from work to take care of the baby and the sick kids without getting the baby sick. So my wife missed the time to enroll on the classes she need it and because we where counting on that that plan now the economic situation will be on the squeeze for a few months. What sucks the most is that Christmas is coming soon and sucks that presents for the kids will take a hit too. On top of that I haven't sell a single fish in about 4 months and I had my main cichlid tank get sick with Popeye and fungus because my nonthinking straight self(to keep on the kid safe language) put too much filter material on the Magnum 350 to keep the water super clean and that reduced the flow to nothing and didn't noticed until there was odor coming from my tank and I lost about 6 fish. I did some water change and that's when I noticed the filter wasn't pumping any water so it was just circulating the same water inside the canister. oh that was foul. I had in order a new magnet and impeller shaft because I thought that was the issue until i took apart the filter put it together after cleaning hoses and everything and filled and turned on and to my surprise it pumped water like never before. It took 2 50% water changes and a lot of medication to clear the tank and the fish from any fungus and healthy fish. I was so out of it that didn't notice my fish colors didn't look as bright as before. Well now the fish are fine. I had someone interested on my fish from Daytona for all my Acei Juvis but I guess he didn't like the $2.50ea price. He haven't email me back since I told him the price and the amount of fish I had. Anyone that reads this I need help to inspire me to keep me sane.

Bless your hearts! Big hugs to all of you from GA

The good part about all this is you'll get more time together as a family. That in itself is a priceless gift. She can enroll in school the next session, so the opportunity is delayed, not missed.

As far as the breeding station goes, it'll give you the opportunity to really think and plan it, even if you can't work on it.

As a single parent, I've used the "many small inexpensive gifts" for Christmas many a time. It's always worked well and kept things well within budget. The dollar store has helped with this. Thank goodness children don't look at price, they look at quantity.

I hope this helps and you'll all be in our thoughts and well-wishes

Oh no riv! sorry you're going through this!
Hope your wife and kids are doing better

I agree with BB, they really really really love it when they see TONS of presents! LOL
Also, you can think of little details you can add to the set up, and stuff like that

Well Guys I finally got the plywood to probably finish the breeding station. Got a pretty good deal on it. I went to Lowes and Home Depot and the hardwood plywood panels 4' x 8' on 3/4" was between $39 to $48 each. I need it 3. So I heard a while a go about these place downtown Jacksonville that have lots of wood and a good price so went to check it out and they had Birch plywood 11/16" 4' x 8' at $29. So got the plywood all 3 sheets. Hope to do some work this weekend but I got a muscle spasm on my neck and still hurts a bit. Oh well.
So my wife gave me a good hand working with the plywood for the stand here are a few pics. The first few pics are the prep work to put the plywood on its final place and the last pic is the final look of it when looking at it from the front. I still have one whole side to go. Lots of work left.

Front finished

So tonight with the help of my wife finished cutting and putting the plywood on the front of the stand. Ran out of wood putty to cover all the screw holes. Gonna get some type of molding to do the base and the top edges. Hoping to have everything set up and cycling in around a month probably if everything goes smoothly. Comments and ideas are welcome as usual.

My advice is to continue working hard, until Friday, because it's coming along great! Then, on Saturday, get ready for Navy to put the hammer down on Army!!!

Thanks guys yeap today I have to get some material to keep working on it and to get it as far ahead as I can. I have been so busy I'm not even watching football. What a shame! I'm going to try to finish the sides today and pretty much is ready for a light sanding and some stain and lets see if the weather let me finish. Is getting cold around here and if the temp is not above 50 I can't stain, lay ploy or lacquer. Bump.

Wow! How did I miss this thread? That set up is awesome! It seems to be coming a long great. I wish I could build stuff like that. My dad can, but he will in no way encourage me by building a new stand that will free up room for more thanks Congrats on a job well done!

Update on the Stand

Woohoo I see the finish line. Just a matter of finding the right hinges for the doors and some details I want to add into the front of the stand(Is a secret till is totally finished) So for now on until the entire thing is set up no more pics. Here a few pics from just a few hours ago. The wife was giving me a hand filling the screw holes with wood putty and sanding some areas. What you guys think?
