nano questions

thinking about setting up a nano and have a few questions.
how often does it need to be cleaned?
is a shellower or deeper tank better?
will 11 watts of light blue and white be good?(planing on keeping corals tank is 8 litres)
what corals are good?
what wattage of heater?
thank you

Your lighting will likely be fine for most mushrooms, zooanthids and leather corals. Invertebrates don't count towards your bioload as much as a fish would.

Personally, I would not have put any fish in a SW tank under 10 gallons. I would have gotten a few choice inverts like a halloween hermit, a couple snails and maybe a single cleaner shrimp depending on the shape of the tank.

yea I wont have any fish just corals and inverts so the light would be over 1 watt per litre does this mean I could keep more light demanding corals?

Wow, I replied to the wrong nano thread, lol. Anyway, on to your questions.

how often does it need to be cleaned?

Like most nano's, should be ok with a small water change once a week to keep numbers stable.

is a shellower or deeper tank better?

For reef keeping, shallower would be better as you wouldn't need as high an output as if it was a deeper tank. For instance, a 20 long would be ok to keep moderate lighting like a PC system where as a 20 tall would need a T-5 HO lighting system.

will 11 watts of light blue and white be good?(planing on keeping corals tank is 8 litres)

8 litres is roughly 2 gallons, so you should be ok to keep moderate light demanding corals from what i've researched. You will want to check the bulb and be sure you have a 10,000 or 14,000 output white and a 420 nm blue.

what corals are good?

Mushrooms are great starter corals, my first coral is a mushroom. Otherwise, if you go to liveaquaria.com their descriptions of care/light level requirements of corals matches up with other sources i've found.

what wattage of heater?

2 gallons could probably get away with a 15 watt heater.

You could probably get a goby, like a neon or something.

truley I thought it was only big enough for shrimps and corals. Today I bought the tank its 31cm long 18cm wide and 20 high. I have this little elite Hush power filter, what filter media would be good to put in it?
cheers
