Dead six line wrasse??

I can't find my wrasse. I haven't seen him since like Tuesday. I think the got aten. He was a little sick so I think the crabs got to him. I know for sure he didn't jump out of the tank because theres no trace of him on the floor. He jsut dissapered. If I don't seen by like next Tuesday I'll by another one. What could have happened to him?

It could just be hiding, but if it was sick to begin with, it could very well be dead. If it died, it could be crab food, or it could just be stuck on/under the rockwork somewhere you can't see it. You can move things around a little to see if he turns up, or you can monitor parameters for a few days to see if you start to get an ammonia spike, which would indicate he is indeed stuck somewhere and decaying.

I just took a test on ammonia and it reads zero. Should I test everyday to make sure if its decaying? Also what do I do if it is?? I can't do water changes everyday. How about every three days? I don't want to search fo the LR that it is stuck in because I finally got a good aquascape I like. I never like the other ones until I did this one.

If I thought I had a dead fish stuck on a rock somewhere, I'd move the rock around to find him. Aquascaping can be redone.

i don't know about 6 line wrasse, but we have a coris wrasse and she buries herself in the sand for 10-12 hours per day.

if your fish does this and it happens to be the times you're awake, you wouldn't ever see her.

when we first got our wrasse, she also "disappeared" for days. i made my hubby take out everything to look for her and lo and behold she came out of the sand when he vacuumed.

now her sand schedule is she goes to "sleep" around 9-9:30 every nite and comes out about 9 in the morning. so we do see her every day.

but on the last water change and vacuum, she got scared and went in the sand off schedule, so we didnt see her much at all, now she's back on schedule.

at the LFS, when we bought her, one guy said, "oh we dont have any more" and the other guy said "let me look" so he ran his fingers all through the sand and found her. maybe run your fingers through the sand and see if you find her. she wouldn't be under the rock, just in the sand.

good luck!
