You need at least a thirty gallon aquarium for most saltwater fish, but a betta in the five gallon and some tetras in the six gallon sounds pretty reasonable.

You can go with various species of clown gobies, crabs, snails, shrimp. I have a 5.5gallon saltwater tank and it isn't bad at all.

Saltwater = yes.

I have a 5.5 Bow-front nano in my bedroom, and it's gorgeous. Nano's are great for those who don't want to go full-out on a reef tank (like my father's 66 gal. reef), and for how beautiful they look once fully up and running, they're definately worth the patience. I'll post some pics of my nano so you can see what you can possibly be looking forward to. Hope you consider my opinion.

I don't run anything aside from my filter and a heater, and things seem to run 100% fine. Powerheads may just be a personal preference, though, not to bash the idea. It comes down to what you'd like to put into the nano, and what you can afford.
