Aquapod Help! Please

Hi all:
Brand new to salt water, i had fresh water while growing up but this is the first time I go to salt water. Just bought a 24g Aquapod and stand. I'm planning on getting live rock, live sand and set it up. At a max I'll add 3 fish in there.

My question is, were can i find information about aquapods? I mean, Ihave been looking but could not find much about. I want to know about setting it up and reviews on the equipment it comes with.

By the way, I learned alot from articles and posts here, u guys are great. Please let me know, I have been reading books and the internet but I still feel i need more specific information about the aquapod.

Hi Hectort - welcome to FishLore. Glad to have ya here.

Try this google search: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...um&btnG=Search

I just typed in "24 gallon aquapod" then added the plus sign in front of "review" and "forum" to pull back some reviews on forums.

Thanks Mike

Hello Mike:

Thanks for the help.

Soon I'll be posting pictures of the aquarium as i set it up. I just found out it is waiting for me at the front door, it was delivered today. I have read a lot and done some good research but i know that I'll need help anyway.

There are alot of changes you can do to the aqua pod to make it that much better. Changing the return pump to a maxijet 600 or even 900 will help (look at also splitting the return or adding a koralia nano powerhead). Also, I would look at retro fitting the lights if you're interested in keeping corals other than polyps and mushrooms. It's not very hard to do and if it's something you're interested in I can point you in the right direction

Thanks all for the fast responses

Thanks for your comments. I already looked into the koralia nano pump and will get it soon. Please send me the info for the lights, I'll look into it. I do have to watch the cost since I'm getting all brand new. With the 25lbs of live rock and 20lbs of live sand that i have coming in the mail, it will be over $700 spent already. (I had to get a quarentine tank and everything that goes with it, plus the chemichals and other stuff)

I'm having problems with the pictures upload, I have to learn how to do it so bear with me.

I'm making sure there are no leaks before mixing the salt water so I filled the tank with fresh water hope this is OK.

I do have a couple of questions.
1. I only see the water pump that is conected to the water jets. Am I supposed to do anything with the blue sponge? I see that there are other things underneath it but I'm afraid to take the whole thing apart cause I may not be able to put back in that little space. This seems too easy, just connect the pump and its ready? (The instructions that came with the tank are useless).

2. I see ridges in the black wall, they have these little compartments (they look like windows), should I take them out so the water flows through to the sponge or should I let the water overflow into the sponge?

3. On my very first water treatment. Im planning to decloronize the water and then add the salt. Now, I have seen these Kent starting kits that have three bottles in it. Do I need to get that or is this enough to start the cycle.

Thanks for your help. I'll post the pictures as soon as i can.

Here are the Pictures

OK:
My files were too big so I took the pictures at a lower resolution.
With these pictures you should be able to answer my questions.

1. I see ridges in the black wall, they have these little compartments (they look like windows), should I take them out so the water flows through to the sponge or should I let the water overflow into the sponge from the top?

2. Should I place the water heater inside the compartment somehow or just leave it were I placed it. I rather have it hidden but I'm not sure how effective it will be.

The koralia NANO Power head is coming in the mail. The rock and salt should be here Monday.

Thanks for the help guys.

leave the compartments, but if you want you can place your heater in the second compartment (the middle one) this will give you that much more room in your aquapod for corals etc. You might not thing it's that much space now, but wait until those corals start to grow!
