Hurricane Gustav

Well, we faired out very well from Gustav. No damage to our home, my parents or my in-laws. In-laws does have a tree that fell, but it's a neighbors tree and it took out some of their fence. We have mostly tree limbs and leaves in the yard but the yard is clean and waiting to dry to mow the lawn. Both tanks are fine and no lose of fish. My dad had a generator and when we had it running, I had a cord ran to my house for the two tanks. Initially they were without power for maybe 6-8 hours before it was safe to get out and get everything hooked up to the generator. Grid power cut off at 10:30AM Monday morning and we just got it back at 5:45PM Thursday. We ran the generator all night for freezers, fans and the tanks, but during the day we would run it for a couple hours here and there.

Glad to hear all is well, Mudhog.

Sounds like a nasty annoyance being without power that long.

Thanks.

We took a direct path hit from it once it made landfall. The good side was that we were on the west side of the eye itself. That resulted in all our winds coming out of the north. We still saw 90-100 mph winds that started at 1:00PM Monday and it made landfall with 110 mph winds. Close to 80% of our rain came after it passed and no major flooding here at my house, but the city had some flooding from water not draining as quick as it was coming in.

CWC, good luck with Hanna that might be heading your direction. My eye is on Ike that keeps pushing farther west. Last night it was east coast of FL, now as of 11 AM it's on the west coast of FL at 8AM Wednesday.

Horrible joke, but as long as he doesn't bring Tina we're all good.

Of course, we plan to take advantage of the weather fronts causing our fish to breed. I just hope as few people as possible get hurt from the weather.

Glad things are okay.
I hope most (or all) of the people affected fare as well as you did.

We got a good bit of rain and flooding Wednesday morning. The department i work in sometimes faces out the back of the window, I looked up and all I could see was water. The houses behind our business looked like they were all in the middle of a lake. Water went up into one of our employees mustang and she waded water almost to her knees to get to it to move it to higher ground. Our huge Dumpster was washed down the side of the building and finally stopped in the driveway out front. it was really amazing.
At home since we live on a hill we fared a little better, full ditches and fast running water but that was all. The power did go out for a couple of hours but all fish are fine.
CWC yep changing barometric pressure sure puts them in the mood doesn't it Two sets of angels spawning and the Rams again as well
MudHog glad all is well at your house.
