How to dry carpet from leak?

So the other night while i was topping off my tank a connection broke at the sump leaking out at least 10 gallons of water. sure enough my carpet was soaked. everything around the stand of the tank is dry cause i've had fans all over it but i'm positive that the carpet underneath the stand isn't. What should i do to dry it? I can't get to it because it's under the 800+ pounds of weight from the tank.

Sorry to hear what happened. I could only think of well vacuuming with strong Wet/Dry Vac and Hair Dryer around and bottom of stand. Portable heater may affect the tank temp.

I can't get to the link you post here but if I'm thinking that your stand has doors on the front and there's a bottom to it, then you may try what I did. I cut out the bottom for just this reason. The bottoms used only for storage anyways so I wasn't worried about stability. It worked!!!

the link didnt work out for me either. COuld you put lots of towels near thebottom to try and dry it? Lets hope the water doesnt stink up the carpet. My sister once dropped 2 gals of milk and broke the bottle and spilled milk all over our kitchen and rug, it went bad like 3 hrs after, and we couldnt get rid of the smell for like a week..

I'm wondering whether water could even get under the stand, if it's 800+ pounds of weight ? I'd imagine the weight alone would prevent water from being able to seep under it via the carpet.

I also can't see the pic you posted, so I'm not sure what the tank stand looks like.

What about one of those sham-wow towels? They are supposed to draw moisture towards them. If you put that around the base of your stand and stomped on it or put bricks on it to push it down into the carpet, it should draw any moisture out.

Water will go wherever the easiest path to get to the lowest spot will take it regardless of what is in the way. It will go through walls, under walls, overwalls, and under fish tanks if that is the lowest spot.
There are tools we use to dry under cabinets but I dont believe you could rent one at a rental yard. For what its worth they are called injectidry. You drill very small holes in the base of the cabinet to get airflow to the areas that are trapped.

Another option would be to cut an access panel inside the tank to get ventilation into the cavity.
Best bet is to move the tank with furniture skidders or magic moving men

Of course you would have to empty the tank quite a bit to be able to get them under the stand so you could slide it. These things really work great though!
Also, I would be more worried about water wicking into the base of the stand and weakening it. If its real wood it should be ok but if its not Keep an eye on it, the last thing you want is ALOT more water!
