Bit the 75 gallon bullet today.

My ever so friendly LFS lady made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I metioned I was considering picking up a 70 tank and stand off Craigslist. She immediately went to her books and started adding numbers. After a lot of deep thought and math she came up with a great offer on a 75 gallon tank and stand. She is selling them to me for $260 total. The 2 year old 70 and stand from Craigslist is $250. For $10 more I get 75 gallons and brand new. Too good to pass up. It's gonna be 2 to 3 weeks before I can actually make the purchase but the ball is rolling. This tank will replace my cramped 55 reef. I was doing a bunch of rearranging today and realized I'm sick and tired of having so little room between the rocks, coral, etc. A 75 is the same width and height but is like 6 inches deeper to the back. Exactly what I need. It also means I don't have my "Gotta finish the stand" excuse any more. Guess I better start actually building the sump. Been talking about it for long enough lol.

Anyway, just wanted to share my excitement.

You gotta love a great deal.
She offered me lights for an extra $120 but I already have the light. I'm so freakin excited. Gonna have to save my pennies real tight the next week or two. I think she may order it for next week. I told her I'd pay at least half next Friday. She may let my take it home and keep a tab for the rest. I'll see if I can't talk her into it.

The downside? Have you ever moved a reef tank? UGH Not looking forward to all that. Luckily I'll be setting up with all mature filter media and probably about %50 mature water so I don't think I'll have any cycle issues. Minimal if I do. It'll be so nice to scrub the front of the glass with out rocks in the way.

Nice score! I empathize completely with the difficulty cleaning the front of the glass...my poor little 29 gallon presents me with the same challenge.

Of course you realize we want pictures?

Oh, you dog. Setting jealousy aside - congrats. This is awesome news and very happy for you. That sounds like a decent deal.

So, when does the coral frag business start?
