Advice- perm marker on decorations.

I bought a piece of driftwood, attached to a piece of slate. I got home and I noticed there was writing on the bottom in what I guess is permanent marker. I soaked the piece overnight to see if the marker would dissolve, and maybe affect the water; it does look like it smeared slightly. So I thought maybe I should try to remove the marker with some acetone or bleach but than thought the chemicals soaking up into the rock could be worse. Anyone have any experience with a situation like this. Advice would be appreciated.*

Re: Advice- perm marker on decorations.

It should be fine.
This is a common practice.
It does not harm the fish.

I write on the outside of my tanks on almost a daily basis with such a marker, if I thought there was any chance of it harmimg my fish, I would not do so.

Great, thanks! I thought so, bc it was a piece of driftwood treated for underwater use but better safe than sorry.

Agreed, it is always better to ask than not.
