2 male swordtails
1 male fighter
6 penguin tetra
4 diamond tetra

Re: Disappearing Fish

Could be your gouramis..... I don't know for sure....How big is your tank and are your water parameters checking out OK?

Re: Disappearing Fish

what are your water parameters (nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, pH, kh, temperature)?

what is your tank size? what's your maintenance routine (water changes and percentages, etc)?

Re: Disappearing Fish

sounds like the fish aliens are at it again. i'd ask the same questions as griffin and do you mean a male betta for the "male fighter"? Bettas and Gourami can be aggressive towards each other and Bettas have a reputation of not being good with neons.

Re: Disappearing Fish

Water levels are fine, and the male fighter is "siamese fighter"

Re: Disappearing Fish

hmm a half eaten tetra would tell me that someone in the tank is eating them. The other tetras that were dead, were they also bitten? Or whole when you found them dead? Those dang gouramis!!... can be pretty rough on other fish! Ive had a male betta in with the tetras and he never bothered them. So not sure if your male betta is causing this. Or was the fish already dead and one of the fish started munching on it?
Its hard to tell...
Good luck on finding out whats wrong with your fish. I would probably separate the gouarmi and the male betta soon if they havent started fighting with each other already. I had a betta and dwarf gourami in the same tank and they also fought.

Re: Disappearing Fish

i think the male fighter (aka betta) needs to be separated from the rest of the fish.

i don't know too much about the other fish, but bettas are better kept one fish to a tank. i would think that the neons would be ok together, but not sure about the others.

Re: Disappearing Fish

I'd be more concerned about the gourami and the betta in the same tank...

yea, it's pretty close to having 2 bettas in the same tank and pretty much ends the same way.
