Small milky spheres in a tank with no fish

I have a tank that I added plants to about a week ago. I just noticed that there are four or five little milky globes that have a single opaque white spot in them. They look like eggs of some sort, but they seem too big to be snail eggs. They're maybe a sixth to a fourth of an inch across. There had been a Japanese Trapdoor snail in the tank, but they're livebearers (I actually got to watch the process) The parent snail died, and I haven't seen either of the babies for a few days.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

what fun - mystery eggs! Sounds like they came on the plants - could they be from the plant's substrata? were the plants packed in that gel stuff?
if not, i'm not sure if it's the best course of action, but i'd catch them in a container (keeping them under water) and then leave them in that container to see what goes on with them.

Sounds like a good idea to me. They weren't packed in the planting gel, and this doesn't quite look like that stuff (I've got a bunch of terrestrial plants growing in the stuff).
