Sea World

just got back from Sea World San Diego today. They had an amazing freshwater fish exhibit. Huge tanks. And the cool thing was... i knew about almost all the species. I was explaning to my friends about the different fish lol. But yea the exhibit was really neat. I could spend hours in there. Some of the tanks were so wierd as to the point where you couldnt understand how they worked. and they also had a huge river simulation tank with HUGE GOLDEN TROUT in it. How the do you keep golden trout in a fish tank? let alone trout? amazing stuff....

I've been to Sea World in Orlando... it was awesome... some day I'd like to see the one in San Diego... my sister lives out there so maybe I'll visit it eventually.

Re: Sea World

Regarding the trout, you said it yourself. The exhibit is huge. As long as they create a brisk water movement, the fish will be happy. Trout tend to find a relatively small stretch of stream and hang out there until they have to move (to find better water or feeding). As the aquarium staff can make sure that the quality of that "spot on the river" will remain good, the trout will never even feel the need to move from it.

Re: Sea World

i saw everything! I agree with you. The freshwater exhibit made the whole park awesome. even more so because i knew SO MUCH ABOUT ALMOST EVERY TYPE OF FISH THERE! i was like teaching my friends about everything lol. yea that monster tank was overcrowded but it was still cool. I liked the huge neon school and the butterfly fish. The crayfish and pirahnas were tight too. I think the best part was when a little 5 year old girl saw a baby pacu and asked her dad "can we get that fishy for our bowl so he can be friends with Bingo the goldfish?" I walked up to her and said " Now little girl is your bowl 300 Gallons?" and her dad gave me a dirty look. lmao it was priceless.

Re: Sea World

I live in San Diego and go to Sea World all the time. I love that exhibit. When I go I spend the most time in the aquariums. The freshwater one is nice because it is never too crowded and you can spend time there. Now that I set up a tank i want to go and check it out again. I'm just worried i will want all the fish in there. HAha. I am already wanting tooo many

Re: Sea World

I've never been to those sea worlds but I used to go to the one in Cleveland. It was really nice, it had a huge shark tank where the sharks swam over and around you, really cool. Sounds like the one you went to is really nice too.

The Boy Scouts actually have sleepovers in the Mystic Aquarium here in CT.....You spend the night sleeping with the fishes, just like Luca Brazzi...... My son did it with his pack last spring...They have educational workstations throughout the building. Then lights out with the fishes...

yea, i think they all must have the shark tunnels.. hey -- that's a great idea for that dream house with a tank that big in one of the rooms.

I hesitate to do this, since it will only give you ideas ... but just look at this! Absolutely blew my mind when I read it a while back.

I don't miss the Boy Scouts. That was nothing but macho male posturing. Our age group (don't remember what that grouping was called) was horribly picked on by the rest of the troop, even when we weren't the youngest. We were tormented during camping trips. Eventually, most of us just left the troop. A couple years later, some of the others started up their own troop, but I had been so burned by the situation that I just didn't feel like going back.

Cub Scouts, on the other hand, was a lot of fun.

And regarding the home with the aquarium wall, did anybody else notice that the article is in an e-zine called Practical Fishkeeping?

Re: Sea World

Hmm...Generally the same group moves up from cubs to webelos to boy scouts...Most of the older kids in our pack are pretty good about how the younger scouts are treated.

Re: Sea World

Yeah, we did the same thing. The same kids who were wolf, bear, and webelos with me were then in my part of the troop. For the most part, we got along great. The guys who were Boy Scouts when we were still Cub Scouts started picking on us right away though, and since the Troop leader was the father of one of them and didn't do anything about it, the rest of the Troop joined in pretty quickly.

Re: Sea World

That can definitely ruin things fast...I quit cub scouts as a kid becuase our pack was so misbehaved that we weren't allowed to do anything....No outings, nothing....That can cause a kid to become uninterested very fast....Which I did so I quit.
