Crazy fish!

I just had to share this with everyone.... I was gazing adoringly at my 33g tank yesterday and saw a very shocking thing. I'm sure some of you have seen this but it sort of blew me away. I know fish will taste poo when they are swimming around and then spit it back out again but I saw one of my Zebra Danios actually take a moutfull of poo off of one of my Platys and it was still coming out of her body!!!!! I'm sure the look on my face was priceless. All I could think to myself was, "What is wrong with you!?" Has anyone else ever seen this happen? That was probably a dumb question but I thought it was SO FUNNY that i just had to share the mental image I got.

Re: Crazy fish!

LOL.. yea, we see our platys do that to each other all the time.. they're hilarious.. and after they spit it out, they'll spot it and go for it AGAIN! sometimes they'll drop their poop and turn around, spot it & go after it.. those platys are such stomachs with fins, aren't they?

Re: Crazy fish!

i don't have platy or zebra danios..
but my guppy ate the whole poo that my angelfish made..
and I think every fish do chase their own poo and if not other fishes' poo

Re: Crazy fish!

I think any pet owner or parent has poo stories to share. I just had too since I have never seen it. Not when still attached to the poo maker!

Re: Crazy fish!

I don't know abuot you guys. but.... They might think it's babies. All the posts I read were guppies and platties. These are livebearers. I bet they think it's fry. And when they go in for a tasty fry they find something not quite as tasty.

Our platys go after ANYTHING that moves.. they seem to have a 'chomp first, figure out what it is later' attitude. LOL. Which is what gets the fry into trouble.
