I'm not sure what to do...

Nest week, I'm going out of town for 5 days. I'm planning on either using an automatic feeder or one of those vacation feeder things that the fish nibble on all week for my betta and my community tank, but I don't know what to do for my red eyed puffer! I doubt he'd eat one of those vacation feeders since he won't eat flakes (I feed him frozen food) and an automatic feeder wouldn't dispense frozen food... even if it would, the food would go bad from sitting out of the freezer for 5 days.

The only thing I can think of that might work is to buy a few more ghost shrimp and put them in his tank. He has a couple in his tank right now, and I think he has eaten one before, but I'm not sure if he could catch them.

There isn't anyone living within walking distance of our house who I trust to take care of him, and I really hate to ask any of my friends who I trust to drive over here every day just to take care of a fish.

What should I do?

I would do a nice big water change, and a good feeding the day you leave, then leave them be for the 5 days...they will be fine and wont be overfed with the auto feeders(which happens more than not) and the vacation blocks are just not healthy for your tanks and will pollute it

I agree with Shawnie. I would not risk an automatic feeder as they can also malfunction. I had someone feed my fish while I was on vacation but never again. I will always do a nice water change and good feeding from now on before I leave.

Enjoy your vacation!!!

I SO agree with Shawnie and Redlessi! Better to leave them without food for 5 days than possibly over feeding them with a possible malfunction of an auto feeder or pollute your tank with the vacation feeder thingy. Hope everything works out fine and ENJOY your vacation!

Hello Maddie. Not much I can add to the above posters. Try not to worry too much and enjoy your vacation.
