| Room to Get Away I re-aquascaped Karma's tank so I could give her a buddy. I took her out, re-scaped the tank, added him, and then added her. She was so aggressive the last time I tried this, I really attempted to keep "lines of site broken" and provide plenty of hiding spaces and a place for him to set up territory. I also added an air bubbler for "distraction" purposes. In addition, I added another ornament for "extra territory".
I've attached pictures. Do you think there's room for him to escape from her? |

So do you think there's "escape" room for him? |

| there is plenty of hiding places. Make sure he's been in the tank for a little bit before you add her. That way he can have his own zone
I think she's gonna get a hubby |

| I love the set-up, Bolivian. I have been wondering, though, why you have a pingpong ball wedged into that top hole. Is it so they don't get stuck in the hole (if so, why is the bottom one open)? I saw this last time, but didn't want to ask, but it's driving me nuts trying to figure it out. |

| Wow I am so jealous of your castle. I don't have room for one. I wouldn't be able to answer your questions but very nice tank. |

| Thanks everyone! The good news is Karma hasn't tried to kill the new male, so I may finally have success at giving her a buddy. Quote:

Btw-I just named Karma's new man Kahn Last edited by bolivianbaby; September 4th, 2009 at 06:33 AM.

| Beautiful tank! There IS a lot of places to hide. The layout looks great and I love the castle too! How come she wouldn't be afraid of other fish but would be scared of a harmless lil' ping pong ball? |

I mean that in a very sweet way, I promise I currently have 15 convicts. Every single con has a different personality. I even see it in my babies
Thanks everyone for the kind words. Karma and Kahn are still getting along great, so I think we got it this time |

Samson has only accepted bruce yet, i think he's noticed his serrated body! | Thanks . I'm also thinking about re- aquascaping the 55 convict tank in a similar format. The jellies seem to be constantly bickering and Caesar and Hekyll had some physical contact earlier. That makes me nervous. I think there's too much open space in the tank and even with the plants, there's too much eye contact. Yep, definitely going to re- aquascape that tank. There's physical contact between the jellies going on as I type this. They back off after a moment, but I just see it escalating and I DON'T want anyone getting hurt. Maybe a few more tall plants as well. |

| I've started keeping extra and ornaments substrate on hand (over the past few days). I knew I'd re-aquascape eventually, I just didn't think I'd do it this soon. More plants is definitely not a problem. I'm 5 minutes away from Petsmart. Home Depot is right there as well, so I'll check out what they have until I have time to "hit the creek".
Thanks, Tony! |

| Careful what you wish for BB. You will end up with tanks full of con babies like I have here LOL. Wait Tommy is gone to town I bet I could thin the herd a bit while he is gone. Well if you don't get any Karma babies you know where you can get some more babies anytime you need or want them LOL. |

Well if you don't get any Karma babies you know where you can get some more babies anytime you need or want them LOL. | I know, that would be funny. Having to set up a bunch of baby tanks . Talk about necessary MTS. Thank goodness the auction's next weekend. You're all still going, right? I'll see you there? Definitely thin the herd. I bet those JD's are hungry Tommy won't be able to tell, especially if you use the itty, bitty ones. They move around so fast, they're hard to count . I would say bring a bunch of fry to the auction, but you know how I am. Because they're cons, I'd have to keep them and couldn't feed them to George.
Oh, I figured out how to keep all the cons Actually, we've got 4 in new tanks now and plans for the other 9 as they get bigger. I'm calling the three striped in my 29 gallon the troublesome trio. When they get older, I'm taking one pink from upstairs and I'll pair him/her with one of the stripes. The other two stripes will be going in one of the african tanks, the "princess" is keeping two pinks upstairs, and the other three pinks will be going in her african tank.
And thanks again, the snails are going upstairs in the guppy breeding tank we just set up after I know it's going to the the instant cycle for me. We just finished setting it up and popped in one male and two female guppies. And the platy, molly, and guppy fry will be right behind the snails.
Those peppered cory "pups" have really grown. I'll be taking a vid soon to capture it. Also, I've got baby food on order from Kensfish. It should be here this week, so let me know if you're running low. I'd be happy to bring some to the auction. I've still got the box, so I'm bringing that, but I REALLY HOPE I don't find anything I can't resist unless it can handle a small quarantine tank and can happily settle in to any of my existing tanks.
If you have any non-con Jack Dempsey chasing size fry that you're trying to get rid of, I wouldn't turn those down
How's the fish room coming? I figured you'd be working on that this weekend, too. |

How's the fish room coming? I figured you'd be working on that this weekend, too. | There is just no way to keep all the cons that these fish produce NO WAY!!! And you know how easy they are to catch ROFL.
I most definitley plan on being at the auction. I hope I don't find anything I want either but I know what all I came home with in March LOL. It is like you loose all control of the hand that holds that number for bidding....you bring stuff home you don't even remember seeing much less bidding on.
I am good on baby food for now thank goodness. Thanx dear just let me know if you need me to bring you anything and I will get it to you the day of the auction. I just recently got a new order from Kens hee hee just gotta love those boxes of new fish food.
Yes we are still working on the fish room. It still needs one more coat of paint and I do not paint and Tommy has to finish the electric and put in my sink. Oh and somebody has to move all of these tanks YIKES!!!
Oh if you dad decides he wants dempsey's...those buggers that were pairing off while you were here well we have wigglers now so I am sure there will be loads of them. This weather has to chill a bit because I have to send Chesh her JDs soon LOL they are trying to take over here.
I can't wait until next weekend!!!! See ya then. |
