Allright I got this

So were getting new furniture and I gotta move my tank upstairs to my room. It's a 10 gallon with a platy, a ghost shrimp and some plants
I got my plan:
Turn off my filters etc
Then put my fish into a rather large gladware container with a cover on it
Vaccumm out my substrate a bit.
Drain my tank out till there's about an inch of water in it
Carry my tank upstairs
Put some nice clean distiller water in it
Put some old aquarium water in it
Turn everything back on
acclimate my fish after a little wait
And I should be done!

Can someone please critique my plan?

Sounds pretty good. I do have one suggestion though. So that you don't have to acclimate your fish and stress them out even more. Once your tank is moved upstairs add your old tank water into the tank first then put your fish in, then add the new water slowly.

I'm not sure what you mean by distiller water. Are you talking about distilled water? If so, be very careful. Distilled water can lower your pH levels "very" fast and could be fatal if it drops too suddenly.

Be careful with your heaters. Make sure once you unplug them to give them time to cool off before you remove them from the water.

Keep us posted! Enjoy the process

Sounds like a good plan. Just give your heater 15-20 minutes to re-adjust to your tank temperature and you'll be off!

I would only use enough of the old tank water so the fish can swim comfortably. Then use the rest new, fresh water. All of your good bacteria is in your filter media and other surface areas of your tank and not free swimming in the water.
Keep it fun!

Hello Nano. I've seen other posts in the past that suggested water from a dehumidifier should not be used due to the pollutants it pulls from the air. I think it would be a good idea for you to do some research (if you haven't already) before using it in your tanks.
Hope the move went well!
