I have two questions regarding Vitachem and I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me out.

1. Is there an expiration date on Vitachem? I've had mine for a couple of years now and I store it in the basement because it stays cool down there all year round. Would it still be good to use? I've looked all over the bottle and couldn't find an expiration date.

2. Is it harmful to add this to a planted tank? I have two soil based tanks and I would like to add some to one of them but I don't know if it could harm the tank or plants in general?

I'd really appreciate any info on this.

Hi red rose....IMO I dont keep any vitamins or conditioners after 1 year (although I go through so much it doesnt last that long) but you could call the company to ask if there is a shelf life 305-651-2496

and although I dont have isoil based tanks, it doesnt hurt my java moss/ferns/ anubias....maybe other members will have more info on fully planted

I've had my bottle of VitaChem for over a year, and I just recently tossed it. It started to look like it was crystallizing or something because it had little particles floating in it and was making a mess in my tanks.

I've had my bottle for about two years now. I opened it up to see if there was any crystals built up in the liquid and around the neck of the bottle and there was none. It still has the same strong "pharmacy" smell to is from when I first got it. I even put some in water to see if I got any particles floating around from it and there was nothing.

I'll call the company when I get a long distance card to find out what the shelf life is.

The long distance plan we have is only for Canada and I'd feel bad having someone get charged a long distance fee for calling because I wanted info on it so I'll send out an email today and I'll post what it says here when I get a response.

EDIT: I just sent them an email. Once I get a reply from them, I'll post what they said here.
