I'm going to make an observation, which is not intended to insult you:
Your tank looks empty.

Now, let's talk about what you can add to fill it out,
without filling it up...
I think it would add alot to use a few tall plants. You can use artificial ones, they would be fine.
Get
green colored ones. The pink and purple plants are fakie and take away from your fish's good looks.
Put three tall ones spaced along the back of the tank. Put the center one "off centered" to the left several inches.
You can add some smaller plants between or in front of them, if you like.
Put some of the rocks at their base to "ground" them.
Add plants a few at a time and see how they look.
You won't need to over plant it to make a big impact.
The main focus items should be in odd numbers: 1's or 3's or 5's or 7's... like that.
If you could get some more rocks, round and larger, they could go in there easily.
Larger rocks to the rear corners in front of the bubbles, with a few smaller ones flowing out from them. You don't have to stack them.
Do your sharks need cover? Some sort of fake log or stump might do the trick.
Or, pieces of slate leaned against the back of the tank will give them a place to hang out and rest.
By "being difficult" you mean that your
driftwood is still giving off tannons or floating?
How big is the driftwood. You'll want to leave space for it, especially if it is large.
Put it forward of the intake tube to draw the eye away from the intake.
Even if it is short, it will be interesting and won't get in the way of filter circulation like a plant might.
When you get your tank aquascaped, fill it above the exterior trim just so the water line doesn't show.
I hope this has given you some ideas for your tank.
Congrats on going from a 10G to 55G! Enjoy it.
