Should I get a Rainbow Shark instead of a Red Tailed Shark?

I actually already have 1 red tailed shark in my 90 gallon. It's only about 2 or 3 inches long. But today, when I was in Petsmart, I saw some rainbow sharks. And they were about the same size as my red tail shark. They were so beautiful because all their fins were red.

I was thinking if I should take out the red tail shark and put it in my 75 gallon, and then buy 1 rainbow shark for the 90 gallon. Would you recommend rainbow sharks over a redtail shark in a community tank? cause the 90 is a community tank, but it is heavily planted. It very heavily planted actually, especially with jungle vals.

the other fishes in the 90 include, 12 rummynose tetras, 10 tiger barbs, 6 bleeding heart tetras, 3 blue gouramis, 2 bristlenose pleco, 3 kuhli loach,
3 clown loach, 4 siamese algae eaters, and 3 oto cats. And all these fishes are babies/young.

Would a rainbow shark do fine in it? the red tail was doing fine, but I've read some comments about the rainbow and people say that they are more aggressive than red tails.

Thank you.

also, I'm planning on adding some Malayian snail to aerate the sand. Would you recommend them? I'm just afraid of snail infestation.

I personally find rainbow sharks to be much less agressive than the red tail sharks. I'm not too sure on the current stocking, as I know the Clown Loaches will grow pretty big. Also, I should mention that if you do get a rainbow shark, he will pick on your siamese algae eaters, and they may pick on him.

PS

If you have clown loaches, they will keep your snails under control.

I suggest only 1 shark per tank. They will fight. Too, make sure your tank lid has a tight fit. They are major jumpers. Good luck!

I am opposite of TFA ...I find rainbows and RTS the same as far as temperament ...LOL and although you would be moving your red tail shark, im not sure any of them would be good once they grew up in the 90 gal, because you have so many bottom dwellers already....but having a back up plan in case, you could try one

I had a rainbow and i provided him a cave he could actually turn around in, he rearly came out so i thought things were a ok but after rehoming him i see my fish(tetras, gouramis) relaxed I think hes best with the clowns and tiger barbs and be sure he has a cave. He will rule the floor!!! mine did allow the tetras to eat but you could tell they were a bit nervous.

i reckon have both in the same tank. i'm sure 90 gallon is good enough for two sharks.

If you put 2 sharks in the same tank you will soon be back to just one shark.................
