yes i would use all the water, even all the garbage in the gravel, im getting ready to do the same for my frontosas, get buckets for the other 30 gallons if you can, it will be easier on the fish, youll have to float them in a bag to get the aclimated since your parameters of your water will change

This is what I would do/have done in the past.

Keep all the decor from the 60g in the water that you saved from the 60g so the bacteria don't die. Using the filters and putting a heater in there will help to keep the temps and parameters stable. Put the fish in a seperate container (a big bucket) for the time being with a filter and heater also if possible.

Put your 125g in place and fill it with the 95g of water, treat it with declorinator (Prime would be best if you have it), bring it up to tempreture then add the water that you saved, followed by the decor. Lastly, add the fish.

Over the next few days, keep a close eye on the water parameters, rectifyling any that arise in the proper manner (water changes). Also, feed the fish every 2nd day for about 2 weeks.

Best of luck.

yes i agree with D once the new water is set and prime is used add everything from the old tank even the substrate if your using the same, you might go thru a mini cycle again. if your ammonia goes up just add prime once a day until it goes to 0ppm. what kind of fish are you putting in.

Your substrate and filter media hold 99% of the bacteria that you need for the nitrogen cycle to go. The water holds 1%.

Only substrate from one tank to another and/or filter media will help.

i don't think you'll have room for 5 oscars in a 125....generally the bare minimum for one is 55 gallons, and two is 125.

here's a link with more info on that and LOTS of info on oscars
