Bottom Swimmers for Beginner?

I am looking for a fish (or small group of fishes) that are readily available which inhabit the bottom of the fish tank- I have fish but they all are mid and high level swimmers and I have tons of space on the bottom which needs filling. I need a fish which isn't too hard to take care of because I am a beginner. I have a 20 gallon, 78 degree, freshwater tank with plenty of room and I have no hostile fish in the tank right now, preferably I would like to find something which is not too big (that I could get 2 or three of if possible) Please leave your recommendations and insight! Thanks so much!

Agree 100%. Corys are great bottom feeders and very active, fun fish. Also easy to care for and they don't get too big. I've got 4 in one of my 20gals.
