Snakehead, I'm not sure what it is you're trying to start here. Fishlore: the entire site, is the place where we chat, ask questions, and post pictures. Is there a particular purpose for this one?

Once again, that's what the entire site is for. Nothing is really instant, because not all members can be around at all times, but the whole site is made for aquarists to get answers from other aquarists.

Pretty much. I've been on here at all hours, as has BettaCouple. Either CWC or Dino (can't remember which) logs on at something like three in the morning, before going to work, in order to see if anyone has any emergencies.
I've noticed you're on quite a bit, and there are dozens of other knowledgeable people around, so Fishlore is pretty much 24/7 support for the more normal problems.
Now, if you've got a stranger problem, it may take a day for the right "specialist" to show up. (For example, if someone had a discus-specific question, they may have to wait until the next time you logged on to get a good answer )

I think at one time we had the discussion about a chat room and decided that with the number of members and mods available that it was not particularly going to work to have a chat area and keep it moderated to ensure consistency for the younger members and so decided against it as almost all the mods have full time jobs besides volunteering here. Most give all the time they can here but it is a big job to keep up with the site and to keep up with a full time 24/7 chat room would simply strain our resources too far. I do feel that with some of us making our personal e-mails available and with the amount of time that some of the mods put in on the forum and the experienced members that we have that chime in and do an excellent job of helping with the questions, it is pretty efficient without having to have a chat room involved.

Me, me, I log in at about 4 in the morning before I go to work.
And again when I get home about 1pm, and then after working in the fish house for a few hours, then before I go to bed.

Yeah, they moved my starting time back to 5 am.
I MUCH prefered going in at 3:30 am.

Yep and I'm usually here for a few minutes about 3:30 am as I have to be at work at 4:30 am back home around 1pm
