Anyone ever had thier fish make noise? Pure curiosity. In the middle of the night (dont ask why Im sitting in the dark at 3am in front of my fish tank ) I have heard my African Knife make two different noises. One was kinda a bubblie (for lack of any good description) noise and the other was a distinct clicking noise. He was up at the top when he made them both. Pretty sure it is just a noise they make when they grab air. But it is still pretty neat!!! Anyone else got noisy fish?


on a side note- the other noise I hear occasionally is him trying to jump and hitting the top (the tank is completely covered so he's not gonna jump out). But do you think he will hurt himself? Anything I can do to make him more comfy? His jump isnt him being startled, it happens in the middle of the night in complete silence.

If it begins to hurt him he should quit doing it on his own, just like a small child...(again, I say, SHOULD)

Our clown loaches make clicking sounds when extremely happy... such as when we gather up the pond snails that reproduce in some of our tanks. We don't completely rid the tanks of them, because the clown loaches love them. A lot of our larger plecostomus make noises when we go to catch them to take them to the auctions or move them to or from the ponds. It has been a couple weeks since I last handled one, so its hard to remember exactly what the noise was, but if I am remembering right it was a hissing sound, but I may be wrong.

id hiss too if ya made me move its funny how the noises are more distinct at nite when all the lights are out...lil buggers hide when we are awake...

my bettas chew their food with their mouth open so you can hear them munching on the bits.

My Balas make clicking sounds... mostly while eating, but every now and then you hear them just lip smacking...

Our Angel Fred likes to go to the surface and make smacking noises as he sticks his mouth above the surface begging for food.

My angel doesnt make any noise yet but I bet he will when he gets bigger, he's such a begger. He has no fear, it's so cute

LOL.. It took Fred a few weeks to warm up to us, but he was already good sized and a little timid when we won him in a fish auction.
