Need help deciding. $150.00 for a 70g with everything included?? Should I buy?
O.k my addiction has turned obsession and I'm not sure I should feed it anymore!
Have spent $300 already on my 45 gallon hex and a 10 gallon betta tank includes pretty much everything tanks, stands, decor, substrate, variuos foods (some frozen, flake, pellet and dried), Medicines including ich.attack, maracyn plus, vitachem, fish protector, melefix, water treatments prime and topfin, bacteria supplement like-cycle, specimen container-quarintine, plants, filter media-ceramic, 2 heaters, nets, testing equipment....you get the jist!
If I'll need it I've got it..
Now most of this stuff I can use between tanks so it's not stuff I will have to buy more of.
This is my issue...I got my last tank of craigslist but never removed my want ad...Now another lady is offering me her complete set-up of a 70! with someother stuff, filter and heater maybe some subtrate and decor her email said "all you would need" not very discriptive.
So what do you think should I fork out another $150 and call it a disease?

She just sent a picture....looks kinda small for a 125? What do you think? I'll ask for dimensions. Should be 72 7/8 x19 x23 5/8 right?

Hi tricky tink...
You know the saying.. "dont bite off more than you can chew"? I read in your aquarium info that you do not know about the nitrogen cycle. I believe from what I have read that you are very new to all this fish keeping and I would hate to see you get overwhelmed. That said.. the price sure is right! But that is not enough reason to grab another tank. You have quite a few now that you are working on, and adding fish. My advice would be that you continue learning about fish keeping, take care of the tanks you have and watch for success that comes with experience. At some point you will feel ready to work on another, and you have had great success in finding tanks with craigslist, not to say another will pop up when you are ready.
 Just my "motherly advice"......

hard to tell.. could be a 55g as well. Ask for measurements ... but boy.. looks good! Maybe even if you dont set it up yet, and you have the room to store it, and it is in fact a 125g, maybe its a good time to grab it?

That was my thought! I don't want to bite off more then I can chew....But I do have a BIG MOUTH
it's 48x18,20 ..... That puts it at 70 gallon! Not for $200 but maybe she'll take $120

I'm not sure if I'd buy it or not. I guess it would depend on if she came down in price.

$120 is a good price IF it includes the wood stand you saw in the photo as well. Now that you know its a 70g maybe you will want to wait for the 125g that you want?

Aha.....some other guy just e-mailed me with a 120 gallon drilled? holes on bottom corners fitted with silicone and piping from having a sump filter hooked up a Magnum 350 (not included) can be closed with a valve or used with another filter hooked up.
His too has a stand, no hood with strip lights.
He wants 30 bucks to deliver it.

The girl with the 70 wants 150 but as you can see from the photo their is a screen top. So even though it comes with her exact words
"cover
dual filter system
food
light
there are alot of stuff under there i dont no what is "
I would have to modifiy that lid to open close easily in sections and house the filter, heater too.
Plus side she would deliver it FREE

Unless you have some place to store it for a while I would hold off (I know, party-pooper). Since you are already doing a lot with your other (two?) tanks, and are still getting them all situated, do you really want to commit yourself to another big and expensive project?
The price on the tank looks decent so, like I said, if you have a place to store it for a while go for it, but there will be a lot more money involved to get it up and running properly...
Good luck though, whatever you decide! Someone needs to invent a MTS gum to curb our addictions lol

I don't know what to do! The man with the 120g tall. Is going to send photos tonight so I'll post when I get them. The only thing I dont like is those holes and pipes coming from the bottom. The filter to make use of those is 150.00. I could just do nothing with them but then their kinda an eye sore if I dont hide them well......hmmm. decisions decisions
As far as maintaning them all. Not a problem for me at all it's like therepy....water test...vacuum..water change...a little of that..a little of this then walla! Sit back and gaze! The new one if I get it will be easier cause it'll be in my bedroom where I can utilize the bathtub which is easier then lugging 5 gallon buckets from livingroom to the kitchen sink anyday!
My main concerns are
How noisy would it be? if I go whisper thats quiet but how about those canister filters?
How much more in utilities it would be?
How would pine look with all my mahogny bedroom furniture...lol
I do have the room to store it while taking time to setup properly.

110 is first picture 70 is second
what do you think?
first one is not a 120 it's a 110 found out by measurements
second one is a 70 not a 125 the lady thought it was....lol
110 not in as good of shape, holes in bottom for a filter I can't afford to replace. also those hole make me iffy about it leaking. comes with stuff in tank and 2 sets of light
the 70 comes with more filter, light, and apparently syuff she doesnt know what it is...my guess junk!
to me im leaning on the 70 cause if I move and need to unload a tank I might have issues selling one with holes....

I have a Tetratec PF300 and it makes a suction noise sometimes, but thats what it is designed to do as it has a sponge in it to that it soaks and drains over and over, not really bad, lets you know its working.
I also have a canister filter (Odyssea CFS4 upto 75G), and the only time you actually hear it is when the spray bar gets really close to the water line and it starts spraying out of the water. Oh and if you stick your head into the cabinet, you hear the motor hum.
I couldn't say for utilities as we are on a budget and it's the same every month. You could look at the direct usage by comparing wattage of what is on your smaller setups to what you will NEED on the larger to at least give you an idea of your power usage.
I'm assuming this is the only thing that would be pine in your room, and it would definitely stand out from the rest of the furniture. BUT if you have a passion for the hobby, isn't that what you want?
oops, didn't realize the date on it!! how is it going? lol
