Woes with the Collective
I'm getting really frustrated with my new 80g tank. I've got a "river" of gravel running through my eco-complete base. Holding the river in are two walls of slate. Unfortunately, my barbs seem to like getting caught under the slate. I've already lost one barb to the slate. Another tried to die that time, when she was trying to get at the first barb. Now, the same barb is severely injured, possibly dying, from getting caught under the slate again (and that's after I filled in the cracks, or at least thought I did.)
On top of that, I've lost two glass fish recently. One was in the old tank, and that's likely because it was a PetSmart fish. I don't normally buy from there, but it's the only place around here that carries non-painted glassfish. Another one recently died, likely of old age.
Presuming Two of Three doesn't make it, that leaves me with just two fish in an 80g tank. Now I'm stuck making a decision of trying to find fish that won't get trapped in the slate or pulling the slate out and starting over (not my favorite option). If I can get the glassfish to survive, they'll be a start, but I want something more than that.
This was mostly just a rant, but if anyone has any ideas for me, feel free to share them.
