I picked up a 20 gallon high tank today off for $5 from someone on craigslist. It will replace my other 20 gallon that has a crack in the trim around the top (and no matter how much I seal it, it keeps dripping water out)

So now for the task of moving everything to the new tank...

I also ordered a sponge filter for the old 20 gallon, I think I will fill it about 3/4 of the way up and use it for a grow out tank for some of my cichlid fry (the tank only leaks if its completely full)
I just can't get rid of a tank... I replace one with plans to get rid of another, but it never happens!!

Really? You were going to drive all the way here for a $5 tank?

I let the tank sit full on my kitchen table over night to test for leaks (good thing it didn't or it would have been a huge mess!)
So it looks like today I'll start making the switch.... or at least get it set up and filled and get my extra filter (thats been running on another tank) going on it.
I'm interested to see how much of a cycle I'll have to do for it if I'm using a filter with good bacteria and I move all the plants and decorations over. (it will have new gravel though)

I got the tanks switched. I am going to wait until the morning to test the new tanks water, then I'll probably need to do another water change as I'm sure the tank will go through a mini cycle at least.
