Fish need to sleep?

Do fish need to sleep for maintaining their health?
If so, how many hours do they need?

When the lights are off, they rest in place. In a way they are sleeping. I know my Bettas will go and lay on a broad leaf plant when the lights are out, so they are resting/sleeping there. I would think that like all fauna, they would need to sleep. Any scientific studies out there to confirm or not that they sleep?

I know that some fish (Will have to ask Dino later about whether it is just some or all fish) sleep with only half their brain at a time, like the shell-dwelling Multifasciatus for example.

I typed "fish sleep" on google search engine, and got a lot of websites talking about if fish do sleep.
I read many of them, and I found the most interesting one, here is it,

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle2666531.ece

The topic was "Fish enjoy a good night's sleep and a lie-in, even if their eyes are open"
The most thing that caught my attention is fish can suffer from sleep deprivation!!
A night-owl like me, should cover the tank with something dark to give the fish a good sleep

Since the fish are from an environment where there is a light/dark cycle, it would be best if they had the same situation in a tank setup.

It does not benefit a fish to have their lights on more than 12-14 hours a day.
