Vegging out in front of the tanks (yes, tanks)
Well, I've officially been bitten by MTS, I set up a new 29 gallon. Right now it's a guppy and kuhlii loach tank, I'll probably add some otos once I get some algae. I had 2 guppies in my 30 gallon before, so I moved them down to the 29 and added 5 more guppies. It's so funny to watch my male guppy romance all the new girls in front of his hugely pregnant female. LOL
I've got 6 kuhliis in there, I felt so bad for the poor guy who had to catch them at the LFS. Either he was really bad at it or these suckers are just REALLY hard to catch. Hopefully they'll all do well in there and I won't have to find out anytime soon! They've been pretty funny, zooming from hiding spot to hiding spot. At least they haven't completely disappeared though!
Moving the guppies down gave me room for 2 more corys in my 30, and already my previous 2 seem happier. Uh oh, somebody bowled my snail over.
So yeah, right now I'm just sitting in front of my two tanks, dividing my time watching the fishies and reading posts! Ugh, did I mention it's past midnight?? Yep, I've been bitten but good!
Ooh, I think I caught the snail bowler, it's my silver and yellow Angel...what a sneaky thing, she's always acted so well-behaved...

I'm guilty too! Our tank is in our daughters' room. It was bedtime and I hadn't seen the fish/frogs all day, so I stayed in there for about 20-30 mins. just watching them until both of my daughters asked what I was doing....I had the lights off!!! It's pretty bad when your kids ask you to leave so they can go to sleep! It is just sooo soothing and relaxing to watch them. I LOVE IT!

I know, my 8 year old asks me what I'm doing all the time. "Just watching the fish." and she gives me a look like I'm crazy. It is so relaxing after a long day.

Re: Vegging out in front of the tanks (yes, tanks)
I agree! I have been trying to convince my husband to look at a 28G bowfront, but keep thinking maybe we should go BIGGER! hee hee hee I think he is holding out to see if we are going to be moving next year----he's the practical one in the family (thank goodness!)
So far I love everything about aquariums; I love doing water changes (it's only a 10G I know), I love testing the water, I love feeding them. Luckily, we haven't had any diseases or big problems (knock on wood).
....Well, time to go "check" on the fish!!!!! ha ha

Manda, my kids know that if they can't find me in the usual places to check the aquarium. I LOVE to sit and watch them swim. You're right, it is so peaceful and relaxing after a long day! My 3 year old son will usually come and get in my lap while I am sitting there and it's a nice quiet moment to snuggle on him---why would I want to change that!
ENJOY!

Re: Vegging out in front of the tanks (yes, tanks)
78G?! WOW! That sounds beautiful----think of all the space and all the fish you could put in there!!!! How do you do a 20G water change?
If I got a 78G tank, I would have to teach the kids how to cook and clean, because Mommy would be glued to the tank......"Sorry kids/hubby, no dinner tonight. Mommy is going to go have Spa Mommy time in front of the tank." HA HA I don't think I can even fathom having a 78G tank and all that it entails...WOW! Now you have my mind spinning (could I do it? or would it be too much?) I can only imagine the look of the movers or how damaged it would get in the moves (we move every 2-3 years.) Dave, I'm sure your movers will do a much better job--no lowest bidders. What are you going to do with your fish?

Re: Vegging out in front of the tanks (yes, tanks)
lol, well, we're not hiring movers, the van is expensive enough. the fish we'll have to mail overnight to denver. i'll fly out there and get the package when it arrives and set them up in temp. tanks with azoo filters & vistherm stealth heaters that i ordered (our biggest order from DFS yet) until the tanks arrive with stacy and her family (they'll help us move).

Re: Vegging out in front of the tanks (yes, tanks)
OMG! You really love your fish don't you!? That sounds like quite an undertaking, but I'm sure it is worth it (just keep saying that--it makes it more believeable!) ha ha ha Seriously, I wish you the best with your move.
If I might offer one moving tip that has saved our backs and the sanity of our movers---buy some multicolored, round, adhesive dots (usually used for garage sales) and color code each room and use the dots for the boxes of that room (make sure you put the dots in the same place on all boxes for ease of finding them). Example: Red is kitchen, green is master bedroom, etc. Make sure you make (and TAKE WITH YOU) the color key. Then, you can make a simple chart/sign and post on the exterior door. Our movers love this trick and we have used it with friends and it is simpler and easier than reading it (that sounds bad, but true) on a box. Just an idea to share.....
Well, I cleaned the tank today, so I should go sit and "check" on the guys for a while

Re: Vegging out in front of the tanks (yes, tanks)

We have our sofa in front of our 120g...I end up just sitting or laying there for hours in the evening. I'll have the television on but I won't be looking at it.

you could just take a tank and a keyboard & mouse and pretend it's a computer on screensaver.
