Leaning tank

The water level of my tank is not straight, you can just about see that its about half Inch low on one side. Its on on a custom built wooden cabinet. I even put Polythene sheet's under the tank, Its been set up for nearly 10 Months. My worry is over time with the weight of the water will it damage or weaken the structure of my tank causing problem's. My Tank is 4 foot 35 gallon community tank. Thanx 4 any replies

Re: Leaning tank

Hmm -- it may be tough to do, but if the cabinet doesn't have leveling feet on it, you might consider getting some thin wood shims at the hardware store, and raising the side that's lower.

Of course, there could be a larger problem, in that your floor might be having problems with the weight ( a 35g tank would weigh around 350 lbs) and sagging underneath it. Only solution for that is to move the tank so it's resting right on the joists, or get a carpenter in to reinforce the floor under the tank if possible.

Re: Leaning tank

And make sure the tank is across as many joists as possible. To explain, make the stand and joists make a cross if you could see through the floor. This way there is less weight on the one joist and the weight is spread over all of the joists that are used.
