can i crimp an air line to lessen the bubbles?

set up a huge glass vase to keep a snail world well not huge but quite large for a vase anyway i put an airstone in the bottom for aeration but the bubbles at the top of the water are splashing out onto the table i could lower the water level but i like it where it is and if i fold the airline and zip-tie it in place it lessens the bubbles to the perfect amount then i wondered will it burn up the air pump working against the resistance of the crimped line? anyone have any previous experience, good or bad? i dont want to put a lid on the vase the plants seem to want to grow out of the water (which sort of started the idea for the vase) i want to use the snails to fertilize the plants and in turn just randomly vacuum with regular water changes but i dont want to burn up my air pump or get the splashies so does anyone know if the pump is in danger thanks Lee

Most air pumps are manufactured with airflow restriction in mind, you won't burn out your pump.

Air hose crimping devices can also be purchased instead of gang valves - but whatever works mate!

Re: can i crimp an air line to lessen the bubbles?

I've had to restrict the airflow, at feeding time when I take the cover of the tank off they use the bubbles to hide in and launch themselves out of the tank! i'd leave them on the floor to show them not to do it again, but just not cruel
it doesn't seem to cause any probs anyways

a gang valve is the best way to control the bubbles flow rate.
