Yeah, sort of. I have only a few fish (oh, and a Bamboo Shrimp too), and there's enough plants and algae to eat all the nutrients, so I never get any nitrate readings. I'm sure the fish love all the algae and live food, but green water is not exactly ideal for fish viewing.... :
