Re: What are the best plants for mollies

Well, that depends on if you want them to eat the plants or not...

It is good for Mollys to have some plant in their diet, so I have hornwort in their tanks. They snack on it but it grows fast so there is a balance there. They have eaten all of the duckweed I put in the tanks, and seem to leave grassier plants alone, just nibbling on the algae that grows on the leaves.

Re: What are the best plants for mollies

Great! Thanks. I guess I'd like plants that indeed grow fast and that they eat, as well as plants they'll leave alone.

Hornwort does well for one they will nibble on, and I have anacharis planted in a corner that they clean but don;t eat. Both are low light, easy to grow and inexpensive plants.

Re: What are the best plants for mollies

I just looked anacharis and hornwort up, and I guess I was after broader or longer leaves. would you know of plants that fit that description and could resist my mollies? Ideally, one type that they eat but is strong and grows quick, and one type that they leave alone.

Amazon Sword. Long, broad leaves when grown submersed and they eat the algae off of it, but leave the plant itself alone.
